Rolling Sunset is preparing to acquire its foundation breeding stock. No horses have been acquired yet. We are taking the time to define exactly what each program needs, so that every horse we bring in is the right one.

Planned Thoroughbred acquisitions
Our first Thoroughbreds will establish the character of the program. We intend to acquire a small number of horses whose pedigrees, conformation and temperament align closely with the objectives we are defining.
What we are looking for

- Correct, athletic conformation and sound legs and feet
- A sensible, trainable temperament
- Satisfactory veterinary and health review

Planned American Quarter Horse acquisitions
Our Quarter Horse foundation will be chosen separately, against objectives specific to the breed. We are looking for horses that combine balanced, powerful conformation with soundness and a steady disposition.

- Bloodlines aligned with the program’s defined objectives
- Balanced, well-muscled conformation and sound structure
- A calm, willing temperament
- Satisfactory veterinary and health review

Selection priorities
How each candidate will be considered
Before any acquisition, candidates will be evaluated on pedigree, conformation, soundness, temperament and health, measured against the objectives of the program they would join.
- Program fit
- Every horse must serve a stated objective for its breed program.
- Soundness first
- Structural correctness and soundness carry significant weight in every decision.
- Temperament
- A good mind is treated as essential, not optional.
- Verified records
- Pedigree, registration and health information will be confirmed before purchase.
